FAQ

Q: When does everyone arrive?

We will arrive Wednesday April 28th and leave Monday May 3rd. Our events will start Thursday evening, but we hope our guests take the opportunity to spend a couple extra days in Tulum, and we'd love to relax with everyone on Sunday after the wedding.

Q: How do I get to Tulum?

You will fly into the Cancun airport (CUN) and take a 90 minute taxi or shuttle to Tulum. It is very easy to schedule a taxi or shuttle when you land in Cancun, but see our Travel page for advice on how to book transportation from the airport.

Q: Do I need a passport?

Yes, a valid passport is required to travel to Mexico. Please keep in mind it can take up to three months to receive your passport. If your passport is expiring within six months of the wedding, you will need to have it renewed in order to leave the country.

Q: Are there covid restrictions?

At the moment there are no restrictions on travel to Mexico. We don't think this will change by the wedding, and hopefully the overall situation is much improved by May.

Q: Should I rent a car?

No. Unless you have planned a day trip to Chichen Itza or Coba, we would strongly recommend you don't rent a car.

Q; Where are the events?

The wedding and beach party are at NEST Tulum (on the south side of the Tulum beach area). The welcome party and reception are at ITZIK, which is walking distance from NEST..

Q: Where should I stay?

We recommend staying on the beach side of Tulum and not in the town center of Tulum (15-20 minutes away). Specifically, we recommend staying on the south side of the beach area, as close as possible to NEST Tulum.

Q: How do I get around Tulum?

Most of our events will be at or near NEST, so if you're close by, you should be able to walk everywhere. It's very easy to bike around Tulum during the day, and there are constant cabs running if you need to get around for activities or dinners.

Q: Can I use my credit card?

Credit cards are widely accepted in Tulum. However, cab drivers, massages on the beach, small retail shops, and a lot of restaurants (like Hartwood & Posada Marghareta) will only accept cash.

Q: Do I need cash?

You will want to have some cash. A few of the best restaurants in Tulum are cash only, and you will need cash for cabs and tips. There are ATMs in Tulum, but they are sometimes a little unreliable, so it is usually worth grabbing pesos at the airport.

Q: Will I have cell phone service?

Yes. We have had good (if a little spotty) cell phone service the last couple years, and every hotel and restaurant has WiFi.

Q: What's the weather like?

Tulum in April/May will be mostly dry and fairly hot. Days will be in the mid-to-high 80s and the nights will be warm. Everyone will get sunburned.

Q: What should I pack?

Tulum is a laid back but stylish beach town. Think beach-chic.

Q: What's the wedding attire?

The wedding is black-tie optional. We want everyone to feel comfortable but Mark and many of the guests will be wearing tuxes.
